The state police were contacted after one vehicle was involved in multiple hit-and-run crashes in Chambersburg around 6 p.m., according to a release by Trooper Megan Frazer.

The same vehicle was then spotted driving erratically on Route 30/Lincoln Highway East, according to the police.

The state police located the vehicle driving at "a high rate of speed" on  Interstate 81 Northbound at mile marker 20. Troopers attempted a traffic stop, and the chase began, according to the release.

Approximately 6.5 miles later, the driver lost control of the vehicle, going off the roadway and rolling over multiple times. Troopers on the scene rendered first aid to both the driver and a passenger who were in the vehicle— both were flown to York Hospital, one with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries and the other with suspected serious injuries, according to Frazer's release.

Interstate 81 Northbound was closed near the scene of the crash and a detour was in place at exit 24 around 9 p.m., and the roadway reopened overnight.

State police continue to investigate this incident.
